1. Consider your application of sodium hyaluronate / hyaluronic acid, choose a proper grade.
Injection grade sodium hyaluronate / hyaluronic acid can be used in following applications:
Ophthalmic viscosurgical devices (OVD)
Intra-articular injection for knee joint dysfunctions
Anti-adhesive products for preventing postsurgical tissue adhesion (PPTA)
Dermal filler & Plastic surgery
Scaffold materials in tissue engineering, drug carrier
Medical grade sodium hyaluronate / hyaluronic acid can be used in following applications:
Eye drops, eye lotions
Contact lens solutions
Medical lubricants
Topical preparations (formulations of gel, film, etc.)
Cell culture
Oral pharmaceutical preparations
Cosmetics grade sodium hyaluronate / hyaluronic acid can be used in following applications:
Skin care cream, emulsion, essence, lotion, gel, facial mask, etc.
Makeup lipstick, eye shadow, foundation, etc.
Cleansing facial cleaner, body wash, etc.
Hair care shampoo, hair conditioner, styling gel, hair restorer, etc.
Food grade sodium hyaluronate / hyaluronic acid can be used in following applications:
Combined with collagen, vitamins (like vitamin C), chondroitin sulfate, or glucosamine to make tablets, capsules, pills or oral liquid to increase hyaluronic acid content in body to help promote joint health or restore skin moisture improve skin health.
Sodium Hyaluronate can be used as common ingredients in beverage, jelly, dairy products.
Sodium Hyaluronate tablets or capsules can also be used for dry mouth treatment.
2. Based on application choose proper molecular weight or intrinsic viscosity.
Normally high molecular weight sodium hyaluronate / hyaluronic acid means sodium hayluronate with molecular weight ≥1,800K Da. The corresponding intrinsic viscosity is no less than 2.7 m3/kg.
For medical grade & injection grade sodium hyaluronate, we always measure intrinsic viscosity (m3/kg) instead of molecular weight Da (Dalton).
Low molecular weight sodium hyaluronate / hyaluronic acid means sodium hayluronate with molecular weight ≤1,000K Da. The corresponding intrinsic viscosity is no more than 1.8 m3/kg.
For medical grade & injection grade sodium hyaluronate, we always measure intrinsic viscosity (m3/kg) instead of molecular weight (Dalton).
